These two 10 gram lbj's (Arctic Warbler above, Blackpoll Warbler below) meet in Alaskaian wood and scrubland to breed in the short arctic summer but migrate separate ways for the winter; the Blackpoll to the Amazon, the Arctic warbler to Asia. Thousands and thousands of miles away. Factoid: if we could drive that far on such little fuel (a layer of subcutaneous fat reserves in the case of these birds) we'd be getting 720 000 miles to the gallon.
