Thru the looking glass

For the botanically inclined...following are some images of some of the flora we've managed to photograph and tentatively identify on the way down from Inuvik to Dawson. The Scrophulariaceae are particularly diverse in shape and color on the alpine. Monet would have gone nuts up here, any primitive or abstract artist would. If you're standing up on the tundra or in Muskeg , you feel like you're walking through waves of temperate spring ephemerals - without the trees overhead; and if you're low down, face to the ground, you're looking down into a whole new microcosmic set of dimensions and detail and color that mirror the higher. Fractals!
